In 2005 Sleemy and Lali met at Shiva-cafe, Laxmanjhula/Rishikesh and became good friends. Lali and his family were running the place. Sleemy decided to make Shiva Café his Head Quarter and became DJ at night to warm up the ambiance. In 2006, Lali took Sleemy to look at his land. Sleemy immediately saw the possibilities of this secluded and calm place, yet not too far from the noisy touristic environment of Laxmanjhula. They decided to do something toghether at this nice and peacful location, under the mango trees. |
20 years before, Sleemy was owner of another Pyramid-Cafe in Pokhara, Nepal which he has to close when the King Birendra Bir Bikram cancelled long term visas. Since then, Sleemy was still looking for a place to start a new one. Thus he told Lali about his ideas of Pyramids and they immediately started to work on the project. |
Merely 9 months later, the first Pyramid was completed and the Pyramid-Cafe was born.... The official opening took place on evening of Christmas 2006. Photos Christmas 2006 |

With increasing popularity, soon the place became too small. A small pyramid was added (here on the left) and an open space for live music. Then, with more customers, it became necessary to build another Pyramid to welcome more people (here on the right). See all the pictures of the Pyramids and bungalows progress with the "Photos" link on the top of the page's menu. |
